The Systems Manager is Responsible for both architecture and engineering management processes within Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) department/group. Architecture management responsibilities include defining, maintaining, and optimizing I&O strategy and architecture to meet business goals and objectives and build business cases for I&O investment. Engineering management responsibilities include executing the defined architecture strategy by designing, building, testing, implementing, and optimizing the I&O strategy in accordance with business and application requirements, security policies, and guidelines. This includes providing Level 3 support for infrastructure administration and providing technical support in restoring service and resolving incidents. Also responsible for IT service performance and capacity management.
Major Accountabilities
? Execute I&O strategy through the Engineering management process. This includes implementing I&O projects through entire project lifecycle: gather requirements, design, build, test, implement, and transition to Service Delivery team.
? Define, maintain, and optimize I&O strategy and architecture. This includes evaluating, setting, and enforcing I&O management standards, evaluating emerging technologies and business potential or impact (including prototyping), and evaluating and selecting vendors and products.
? Service design and management, including definition and maintenance of infrastructure and administrative and operations policies (Run-books, support procedures, etc.) and IT operations management tools architecture, engineering, and optimization.
? Manage Level 3 infrastructure incident, problem resolution, and administration.
? Design, test, implement, and manage IT service continuity.
? Manage performance and capacity management based on business needs and IT infrastructure growth capacity. Manage development of policies to ensure that existing capacity is being used as efficiently as possible.
? Manage development of patching and version management policies to allow the Operations team to perform monthly security patch and version management on all IT infrastructures.
? Participate in establishing departmental goals and implement procedures and performance standards to achieve these goals.
? Responsible for the recruitment, development, retention, and review of assigned employees.
Skills/Knowledge
? Bachelor?s Degree in Information Systems Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, required. ITIL Practitioner, Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred.
? Seven to ten years of experience and proficiency with the following technical infrastructures:
o Data Center Management (Halon, Pre-action Systems, APC, etc.)
o Data and Voice Network (Cisco)
o Servers Platform (UNIX, Windows, IBM)
o Storage and Replication (EMC and Cisco)
o Backup and Recovery (Netbackup, ESX Ranger)
o Virtualization (VMware, Microsoft)
o High-Availability (Veritas VCS/GCO/Storage Foundation)
o Directory/Authentication Services (Active Directory, SecurID, TACACS)
o Exchange/Outlook & FAX Communication (Exchange 2003 & 2007, Omtool)
o Remote Access Services (VPN, IPsec, etc.)
o Secure Data Transfer (sFTP, AS1, AS2)
o Systems Management (Microsoft Operations, SMS, Sitescope, etc.)
o Security/Auditing (Bindview, Oracle Vault, Netpro, etc.)
? Three years of experience in a supervisory or lead role required.
? Three to five years of strong project and service delivery management experience using structured project management and service delivery methodologies, such as Project Management Institute?s PMBOK and ITIL Service Support and Delivery.
? Three to five years of experience in producing strategic and architectural plans and systems requirements and with design, development, testing, implementation, and running operations.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills and analytical and problem-solving skills required.
