Technical Writer

Do you have a strong technical background? Do you like to explain complex things in plain language and pictures to end users, talk technically to administrators, and speak geek to developers? We are looking for a user-focused Technical Writer who can address multiple types of users in a single-sourced documentation library produced by a small team of writers.

Technical Writer is part writer, part engineer, and part product manager. You will help define various aspects of our software in close cooperation with the product team, and you will communicate best-practice product usage to users in clear, concise, consistent, and compelling language. In your spare minutes, you will help define a company Style Guide for information products.

Requirements

? Technical communication or BS degree (CS or symbolic systems major preferred) or equivalent experience

? Ability to communicate effectively with developers, project management, and users of all types using multiple media (help, manuals, videos, etc.)

? Come up to speed quickly to write about product concepts, the core platform, and industry trends

? Working knowledge of word-processing software such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, and Adobe RoboHelp; illustration software such as Microsoft Visio, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator; source-control software such as SVN

? Past product/project management experience is a plus; a self-motivated writer who achieves goals and meets deadlines with minimal oversight is a must
