Subrogation Specialist

Review claim files and make recommendations on recovery potential for contribution and subrogation. Handle contribution issues on claim files from identification to completion of recovery. Handle subrogation issues on claim files from assignment to conclusion. Work with Examiners to provide assistance and support in the full resolution of the claim. Manage outside counsel retained to assist in recovery to achieve the best net dollar results:

- Manage and pursue contribution recovery on all identified cases

- Assist Claim Examiners with contribution issues as requested

- Maintain active diary and notepad documentation on all contribution files

- Maintain POA on all files open for contribution recovery only

- Maintain contribution log/records to track all referrals and all recoveries

- Provide feedback to referring Examiners within 1 week of referral

- Provide contribution training or facilitate training by outside people quarterly

- Pursue subrogation recovery on all assigned cases with 3rd party liability

- Pursue credit rights with WCAB on all applicable files

- Maintain active diary and notepad documentation on all subrogation files

- Maintain subrogation logs to track all referrals and all recoveries

- Participate in WCAB/civil appearances in cases, as needed, within local travel

- Participate in classes/meetings/trainings inside or outside-minimum of 1 per quarter

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor?s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; four years experience as a Claim Examiner; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such contained in claim files, including, but not limited to first reports, medical reports, legal reports and investigative reports. Ability to review and analyze claim files, particularly focusing on contribution and subrogation issues. Ability to handle contribution and subrogation claim issues.

- Ability to read and apply the California Labor Code. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and interest.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft word processing software; Microsoft spreadsheet software; and be proficient on applicable databases, systems and vendor software programs.
