POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is a journey-level programmer/analyst position on the Data Management team within the IT department of a successful regional Workers' Compensation insurance company. In this position you will work with DBAs, members of our Application Development team, and QA within IT to refine and expand our data warehouse and develop management, financial, and regulatory reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Design and develop reports to meet the needs of senior management, staff in a wide variety of functions, regulators and business partners.

- Support and enhance existing data repositories and reports using SQL Server 2000 and 2005, Transact SQL, MS Reporting Services, and Crystal Reports.

- Analyze existing reports and application data to diagnose and identify solutions to reported problems.

- Work with users in a variety of functions to understand their reporting needs; document requirements for development by yourself or your teammates.

- Actively participate in all phases of data management from data modeling, warehouse and datamart design, to coding, testing, and technical documentation

- Accurately assess technical feasibility and development effort given business specifications; identify and propose alternatives to meet given resource/time constraints

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3-5 years experience in reporting development and data management.

- Language requirements: Advanced Transact SQL (T-SQL, Stored Procedures, UDFs) on Microsoft SQL Server Platform

- Strong preference given to experience with SQL Server 2005, SQL Client Tools, and relational database design.

- Experience with SQL Reporting Services or Crystal Reports preferred; experience with other report/query tools such as Hummingbird, Business Objects, etc. is a plus.

- Data transfer skills: SQL Server to SQL Server, between SQL server and other formats, XML, etc.

- Strong preference given to experience in the insurance, healthcare, or financial services industries.

- Proficiency in Excel is required; proficiency in MS Access is a plus.

- Self starter with a 'can do' attitude and motivation to learn new skills

- Flexible, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing business needs and priorities

- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
