Position Overview:
Working directly with the Database Administrator and the programmer responsible for claims applications and databases. Qualified candidate will have a permanent interaction with stakeholders from the claims offices of San Francisco and San Diego. Regularly receiving data analysis inquiries will require basic knowledge of working with data query and reporting tools.
Responsibilities:
- Assist claims business analysts in defining and solving data issues
- Write basic instructions to programmers for more complex data queries required for data analysis
- Performing data mining and analysis in a MS-SQL database environment
- Use database-reporting tools (MS-ACCESS or Crystal Reports)
- Test changes programmers and/or DBA do to current reports or data feeds
- Use MS-Office applications in a Windows environment
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in the insurance industry (Workers Comp is a plus)
- Knowledge of claims handling and regulations (a plus)
- Experience working with relational databases (MS-SQL is a plus)
- Experience with a database-reporting tool (e.g. MS-ACCESS, Crystal Reports)
- Experience working as a liaison between business analysts/stakeholders and programmers in order to create detailed data specifications (a plus)
- Experience in testing reports or data feeds (a plus)
- Familiarity with Windows environment and MS Office tools
- Self starter with a ?can do? attitude and motivated to learn new skills
- Flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities
- Good verbal and written communication skills
