GUI Software Engineer

Position Summary:

This is an opportunity to join SignalDemand, an early stage start-up that is working on some of the most challenging and exciting analytical problems in manufacturer pricing: simultaneous optimization of supply and demand. The company is well funded, with an experienced management team, and a primary focus on commodities and consumer goods sectors. The engineer will join a highly motivated team developing a highly interactive user-centric Web-based application based on state-of-the-art Web technologies.

Responsibilities:

Work with the User Interface group to help design, mock-up, prototype, build, and test a highly interactive rich Web application.

Contribute to the creation and maintenance of our UI toolkit, enabling us to create rich, consistent content.

Understand the concepts and domain knowledge behind the application, and contribute innovative UI techniques for their implementation.

Qualifications:

Hands-on experience in developing rich Web-based applications using DHTML (JavaScript, CSS, and DOM levels 0 â?? 2) with attention paid to browser compatibility and graceful degradation issues.

Strong ability in implementing modular object-oriented JavaScript code with one or more of the popular JavaScript toolkits (DojoToolkit, Prototype.js, Scriptaculous, etc.)

Experience with AJAX programming techniques (XMLHttpRequest).

Experience with test-driven development practices and the JSUnit or JUnit testing frameworks.

Some experience with the Java programming language is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Record of high academic achievement (GPA) and aptitude (standardized test scores).

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent CS experience and a degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Science, Engineering, Mathematics).
