Sr. Systems Administrator

Overview:

The On Demand Division, currently has a need for a highly skilled System Administrators to join our Network Operations team. The Network Operations team is responsible for the administration of the On Demand network, packaging our proprietary software and deploying cutting edge voice technology solutions based on Linux, Solaris and Windows platforms. This position includes day-to-day system administration as well as appropriate on-call duties. The ideal candidate will have advanced system administration skills, a strong understanding of a scripting language such as Perl and Network exerpierence with a willingness to learn and maintain the On Demand application suite.

Responsibilities:

â?¢ Install and configure Linux and Windows and troubleshoot Intel Hardware systems.

â?¢ Optimize Linux for application servers using the Linux Kickstart tool for duplicating system installations.

â?¢ Administer applications (setup/debugging) such as Oracle, Resin and Apache.

â?¢ Technically troubleshoot and debug software using Java/JSP/C

â?¢ Automate administration tasks with Perl and/or Bash

Qualifications:

â?¢ 7+ years of experience as a systems administrator

â?¢ Experience managing a mission critical 24x7/365 system

â?¢ Experience with Solaris on Sun hardware, high availability services like Veritas Cluster Server, performance and tuning of Linux systems and a basic understanding of the Linux kernel is an advantage

â?¢ Experience with basic Cisco networking skills such as load balancers and fire walls

â?¢ Ability to set up and configure Linux and Sun Solaris servers

â?¢ Ability to setup and manage Windows servers

â?¢ Comfortable working with x86 and Sun hardware

â?¢ Skilled at writing code from scratch with Perl and/or Bash

â?¢ Good working knowledge of Linux/NT/Solaris IP networks, SendMail, DNS

â?¢ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

â?¢ Excellent problem solving skills

â?¢ A high level of proficiency with TCP/IP, NIS, NFS, DNS, SendMail and Linux tools

â?¢ A good understanding of Networking at a LAN and WAN Level, preferably some experience with configuring CISCO network devices like firewalls and layer four load balancers with the ability to manage Linux, Solaris, and Windows 2000 at the network level.

â?¢ Nice to have:

o Experience working with Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster Server, and Netbackup software

o Basic SQL

o A background or understanding of formal software development process
