The company provides underwriting, operational, and claims management services for California Workers Compensation business. The company provides workers compensation insurance solutions for a wide range of companies of various sizes and in diverse industries in California.
Position Overview:
This is a journey-level systems engineering position on the Application Development and Support team within the IT department of a growing company. In this position you will work with Business Analysts, DBAs, and QA within IT to maintain existing client-server and web applications, and will participate in the development of our next-generation web applications.
Job Requirements:
- Design and develop secure, fast, scalable, web applications for a growing workers' compensation insurance company.
- Support and enhance existing client-server applications in Delphi 6, SQL, and .Net
- Analyze existing software and application data to diagnose and pose solutions to reported problems.
- Understand and be able to translate written requirements into technical design specifications.
- Actively participate in all phases of development from design through coding, unit testing, integration testing, and technical documentation
- Accurately assess technical feasibility and development effort given business specifications; identify and propose alternatives to meet given resource/time constraints
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in application development in a 3-tier environment
- Language requirements: Delphi 6, Advanced Transact SQL (T-SQL, Stored Procedures, UDFs) on Microsoft SQL Server Platform
- Strong preference given to experience developing in Visual Studio.Net, C# or C++, and using SQL Server 2005, SQL Client Tools
- Experience with SQL Reporting Services or Crystal Reports preferred; experience with other report/query tools such as Hummingbird, Business Objects, etc. is a plus
- Relational database design experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Visual SourceSafe (VSS) or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in financial services is strongly preferred, and experience in insurance industry is a plus
- Experience with prototyping and rapid application development is strongly preferred
- Self starter with a can do attitude and motivation to learn new skills
- Flexible, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing business needs and priorities
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
